When I was young, a Sparrow named Happiness
Rested in my hands...my gentle, clumsy hands
Singing the days away
But as time went on, the winds of change
Made me fear the road ahead
And as my nervous hands gripped tighter, she flew away
I chased her far with fist clenched in frustration
Her song mocking me as I ran breathless
"catch me if you can!"
And I screamed my frustration.
And then she sailed far out of reach.
Years flew by, and in my darkest hours I saw her again
She simply sat on a branch above my head
And cooed "Catch me if you can." with her silvery voice
And my fists balled tight with rage
"Why did you abandon me?"
I cried in anguish.
But it was in that moment, that I realized my mistake
And loosed my tired, sore fingers
And as I gently opened my palms
I knew that she only flew from me because I wanted to crush her
And so she nestled back into my time worn hands
Where she looked me in the eyes again, as she had done when I was a child
And smiled.

"Catch me if you can."
